Adoption

The Lutheran Service Society of New York has been helping people adopt since 1905. While the focus of adoption has changed over the years, the agency remains committed to professional, confidential care.  Today, the agency’s main focus is on Home Study Services, Post Placement Services and International Adoptions.

Americans are adopting more and more children from other countries. Between 1988 and 1998, the number of these adoptions nearly doubled.   For many people, the opportunity to adopt a child from overseas is the answer to their prayers. Trained dedicated staff are prepared to assist throughout the process.

As a member of LAN (Lutheran Adoption Network which consists of Lutheran adoption agencies across the U.S.) we are able to facilitate placement of children from many countries including Bulgaria, China, Columbia, Cambodia, and Romania to name a few.

LSS of NY also works with Cradle of Hope placing children from countries such as Russia, Guatemala and China.

We are also pleased to offer our own International placement program focusing on children from Poland. Our staff will walk you through the immigration process, the identification process, and the process in Poland.

The ability to offer these different options to families considering international adoption allows us to find loving, healthy families for children who have no family.

We are committed to providing quality services in the area of international adoption!
